Harford County residents can learn how to collect rainwater at home through a hands-on workshop where they will build their own rain barrel and take it with them.
What’s happening: Grow Wild is hosting a Rain Barrel Workshop where attendees will learn about the benefits of rain barrels, build one during the session, and get guidance on how to install and maintain it at home. The workshop will be held at the Tidewater Marina in Havre de Graceon Saturday Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Who’s leading it: Claire Cambardella, a watershed restoration specialist with the University of Maryland Sea Grant Extension, will present the program alongside Harford Land Trust. Harford County Government is sponsoring the event.
Why it matters to you: Rain barrels collect water that runs off your roof during rainstorms. That water can be used to water gardens and lawns, which cuts your water use and keeps runoff from flowing into local streams and waterways.
