He came for the candy. He stayed for the soda. And he left with enough chocolate to make Cupid file a complaint.

🍫 What We Know: On Friday, February 14, a man drove to the Royal Farms on Mountain Road in Joppa. Deputies say he arrived in a stolen truck. Then he walked inside and grabbed two full display boxes of candy bars. He walked right back out and loaded them into the truck.

Then, because subtlety is overrated, deputies say he returned to the store. He bought a soda. Like a regular customer. Like a guy who definitely did not just run off with a small convenience store’s worth of chocolate.

Then he went back again. Deputies say he stole two more full display boxes of candy bars.

That makes four display boxes total. Or, in Valentine’s terms, one grand romantic gesture. Or, in dentist terms, two new cavities.

🚓 Why It Matters: Deputies say this was not just a candy caper. They say the truck was stolen, too. That turns this from “sweet tooth” to “sour situation” pretty fast.

Also, if you wonder why your favorite candy aisle looks like it got ransacked by a raccoon with a gym membership, this might help explain it.

🕵️ Who Made It Happen: The Harford County Sheriff’s Office says it wants help identifying the man. Investigators call him a Valentine’s Day candy bandit. Because of course they do.

📞 Take Action: If you can identify the man, call the Southern Precinct at 410-612-1717.

And if you happen to be his Valentine, maybe ask why your gift comes in “full display box” quantities.

🍬 What’s Next: Deputies say they want to talk with him about “proper checkout procedures.” Also about stolen vehicles.

In the meantime, keep your eyes opeen and your candy close because love is in the air. And so is larceny.
