The waterfront town that calls itself a place of festivals and volunteers is suddenly on a national list. Havre de Grace has been named a finalist in Parade Magazine’s “America’s Favorite Small Town” contest.
What’s Happening: Parade Magazine’s competition has 40 finalists, and Havre de Grace is one of them.
Between The Lines: The national winner is scheduled to be announced June 12. Each finalist needed community votes to reach this stage of the contest.
Catch Up Quick: Havre de Grace has received other recognitions in the past, including being named one of the best small towns to visit by Smithsonian Magazine. The city made a top five list of safest cities in Maryland in 2016.
What Happens Next: Regional winners are scheduled to be announced June 1.
Between The Lines: Maryland has two finalists in the contest: Havre de Grace and Leonardtown in St. Mary’s County.
