Harford County’s weeks-long snow cover should start to loosen its grip this week, with a warmer trend arriving Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington.

Forecasters say winds will be much calmer as high pressure builds over the region. Monday night lows are expected to be in the 20s as clouds move in.

The best shot at noticeable melting starts Tuesday. The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, with temperatures that could reach the 50s south of I-66, though wind gusts could hit 30 mph near the Alleghenies.

Later in the week, the forecast turns cooler again. Highs are expected to be in the 40s Wednesday, then back in the 30s Thursday and Friday, with a slight chance of rain or a wintry mix Friday.

When will Harford County thaw out? The National Weather Service forecast points to Tuesday as the start of the warmup, but the return to 30s later in the week suggests melting may be uneven and slower after midweek.
