Two children playing at the Churchville Recreation Center ran to their parents Sunday after an older man tried to get them to approach his vehicle, according to the Churchville Recreation Council Board of Directors.
What happened: The children were playing away from the main baseball area when an unfamiliar adult man approached them and tried to get them to come toward his vehicle. The children felt uncomfortable, did not go with him, and ran back to their parents. The man then left the property.
The suspect: The man is described as white, roughly 60 to 70 years old. He left in an older, dark blue van. No license plate information is available.
What we know: The Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded and the incident was formally reported. The Recreation Council Board of Directors posted an alert about the incident early Monday morning, about six hours after it occurred.
What the council is asking: The board said it shared the information to raise awareness, not to cause alarm. It asked community members not to confront or investigate the man themselves and to avoid sharing unverified information.
What’s next: Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
