A Harford County jury found David Williams, 67, of Abingdon, guilty of first-degree murder April 17 in the shooting death of his wife, Lillian Williams, at their home.
What’s Happening: The verdict came after a five-day trial before Judge Alex Allman in the Circuit Court for Harford County. Williams was convicted on all five counts, including murder, two firearm-related charges, and tampering with evidence.
What’s Important: Williams is the only person who was in the home when Lillian Williams was shot and killed on June 30, 2025. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide and testified that the physical evidence was not consistent with a struggle.
What We Know: Prosecutors presented evidence that Williams left his wife’s body in the home, drove away with the gun, and discarded it in a wooded area before returning about an hour later to call 911. He told dispatchers he had no knowledge of the shooting. He later told investigators the gun went off during a struggle after his wife produced the weapon. He also called a friend out of state and said he had been in an altercation with a man that ended in the man’s death.
What the Evidence Showed: Footage from a Ring doorbell camera showed Williams kicking in the front door to re-enter the home, then calmly walking in and out multiple times in the minutes after the shooting. Detectives executing a search warrant found gun cases, multiple types of ammunition, and a handgun holster in his bedroom. The gun used in the shooting was not recovered from the home.
The Autopsy: The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Lillian Williams died by homicide. The medical examiner testified the gun was fired from approximately one to three feet away and that the findings did not support Williams’ account of a struggle.
The Path Forward: Williams will remain at the Harford County Detention Center until sentencing. A sentencing date has not been set. A pre-sentence investigation must be completed first.
