Police in Bel Air are still searching for a man who grabbed a young girl in a Bel Air neighborhood. They have not yet identified the suspect.
What’s Happening: Officers responded to the area of Majors Choice Drive and Grayson Square, near Moores Mill Road, at about 4:40 p.m. June 27 after the girl was grabbed from behind near a community pond. She screamed and ran. The suspect drove away in a white or gray sport utility vehicle before officers arrived.
What’s Important: Bel Air Police Sergeant Sergio D’Alto said Monday that investigators are following up on tips, reviewing video, canvassing the area, and talking to anyone who may have relevant information. The suspect description has not changed: a white male adult, possibly in his 30s, with brown hair, a beard, and a thin build, wearing a baseball cap.
What’s Still Unknown: D’Alto referenced a separate incident reported June 14 that was handled by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office. He said Bel Air Police did not investigate that case and cannot confirm whether the two incidents are connected.
What We Know: The girl was not physically injured. D’Alto said the department is being careful about what it releases publicly to avoid compromising the investigation.
How This Affects Real People: Police are again asking residents and businesses near the scene to check exterior cameras, including doorbell cameras, for anything suspicious captured around the time of the incident.
Anyone with information can contact Sergeant Henry Marchesani, Corporal John Ganovski, or Detective Jess Carpenter at (410) 638-4500.
