A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Harford County until 10:45 p.m. Sunday. Wind gusts up to 60 mph are expected.

What’s Happening: The National Weather Service in Sterling, Virginia issued the warning after radar detected a severe thunderstorm over Essex and Middle River at 8:54 p.m. The storm is moving northeast at 15 mph and also covers east central Baltimore County.

What’s Important: Sixty mph wind gusts can knock down trees and large branches, block roads, and damage homes and vehicles. Localized power outages are possible, and loose objects may become airborne.

How This Affects Real People: Communities in the warning area include Aberdeen, Havre de Grace, Bel Air South, Bel Air North, Fallston, Jarrettsville, Edgewood, Perryman, Riverside, and Aberdeen Proving Ground.

The Path Forward: The National Weather Service is telling residents to go inside and move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Torrential rain with the storm may cause flash flooding. Do not drive through flooded roads.
