Last night’s rain brought cooler air and a refreshing breeze to Harford County, but the relief will not last long. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for southeast Harford County running from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

What’s Happening: Heat index values — a measure of how hot it feels when humidity is factored in — could reach 105 degrees. The advisory covers southeast Harford County, along with parts of central and southern Maryland, Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia.

What’s Important: High heat combined with high humidity can cause heat-related illness, including heat exhaustion and heat stroke, even in people who are otherwise healthy.

How This Affects Real People: Residents in southeast Harford County should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning, avoid direct sun, and check on neighbors and relatives who may need help.
