Severe thunderstorms swept through central Maryland Saturday evening, cutting power to more than 80,000 BGE customers across Harford, Baltimore, and Anne Arundel counties.

What’s Happening: High winds snapped trees and limbs, toppled utility poles, and brought down power lines across the region. BGE said crews are working around the clock to assess damage and make repairs.

What’s Important: BGE is bringing in additional crews from outside the area to speed up restoration. The company has not given a timeline for when all customers will have power back.

How This Affects Real People: Harford County residents were among those still without power Saturday and into the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Customers can report outages through the BGE mobile app, at bge.com/outage, or by texting OUT to 69243.
